Have there been any changes in HW since pre-production units have been released to customers?
Yes, there have been changes to the hardware to improve robustness. Once production hardware is released, no changes to the hardware are planned.
Is the “new” retrofit PDM the same as the “old” legacy one (same pinouts, same connectors, same package size, same mounting, and same CAN command set)?
Yes, all of the above aspects of the retrofit PDM are identical to the legacy PDM.
Does the new PDM have higher current output capability?
The actual output current rating of the retrofit PDM is the same as the legacy PDM.
Can the new PDM drive heavy capacitive loads like a LED light controller or switching power supply?
Yes, we have conducted internal testing with a variety of loads including switching power supplies and LED work lights. We recommend carefully testing the PDM with the intended device due to the high degree of variability in the associated power requirements these types of devices exhibit.
Have the two resistive analog inputs changed?
No, they are the same.
Can two outputs be paralleled for more current on this model?
No, this functionality is currently unsupported.
Can you provide the list of tests and/or actual test results for any environmental and electrical tests you performed on the units?

Is the new hardware RoHS compliant?
The units are lead free and intended to meet RoHS.
Is the new hardware CE certified?
The testing is in process. We plan to complete CE testing and certification in May 2021.
When does Enovation Controls plan to start producing retrofit units?
We are currently planning to start production in June 2021.
When is the last opportunity for a customer to order and receive legacy units?
We have notified all of the sales representatives that we are planning the transition in June and they have started to use the new part numbers. The exact date has not been finalized but open orders at that time will be switched to the retrofit part number.
If we order the legacy PDM, is it possible you will send me the new retrofit PDM instead?
Yes, after our transition date in June this will happen as the unit is a drop-in replacement and we can no longer obtain all of the parts necessary to manufacture the legacy version.
What is the sleep current @ 12 V & 24 V
The sleep current is less than 3 mA.
What is the delay time from wake from sleep to output energizing?
Approximately 100 ms.
Does the retrofit PDM work off of a 12- or 24-Volt supply?
The 12 V retrofit replacement for the legacy PDMs can be powered from 6- 18 VDC. The IX3212 retrofit can be powered from an expanded range of 8 – 36 VDC with deviations of up to 2 VDC for crank. The legacy 12V and 24V PDMs use different CAN communication protocols. The two retrofit PDM replacement versions allow for backward CAN communication protocol compatibility with the legacy PDMs.
