Installing Firmware and Codesys Applications using the Service Tool

The Service Tool can be used to download firmware or a Codesys Application to the uController. The Service Tool is also referred to as the uControl Application Tool. An E-Com USB to CAN adapter is required for the physical connection between the computer and the uController.

Go to the Software Downloads page to get the latest firmware and the Service Tool.

Step 1 - Connect to the uController

To program the Controller all that is needed is power on connector J1-B and a connection between the ECOM cable and CAN port 1. The plug and play programming kit shown below can be used or  you can create your own harness following the pinout shown below.

Turn Power on - the green LED will be on solid when new and has not been programmed or flashing if it already has an application

Use Programming Kit P/N 58700011 which includes, E-COM cable, Power Adapter, CAN & Power Harness, and Termination Resistor. The following harnesses are available separately:

MC3 & MC4 CAN Programming and Power harness: P/N 38000001

MC2 Adapter: P/N 3800009 (Use in conjunction with P/N 38000001)

E-Com USB/CAN Adapter: P/N E2046014B (with Deutsh triangular connector).

Step 2 - Select Install Software

Launch the service tool then select the Install Software icon.

Step 3 - Select Codesys Application or Firmware

Step 4 - Select the file

Step 5 - Install the Software

Select the green checkmark to start the download process. The progress bar will pop-up and display  Clearing, Programming, then it will disappear when finished.

A warning message may appear regarding tables, this can be ignored when installing firmware.
