Storyboard Extension 5.10
Storyboard Extension 5.10
Updates — Requires OpenPV 5.40.2 or higher
This is the first Storyboard release for OpenPV 5.40, and an update is required: Storyboard 5.9.0 cannot run on OpenPV 5.38 or later. The release also adds Storyboard development on Linux and macOS desktops.
- OpenPV 5.38+ compatibility — follows Core's removal of the PlatformFamily enum. 5.9.0 fails on current toolkits with "Method not found: get_PlatformFamily".
- Linux desktop — Storyboard apps can now be generated, launched and simulated on an Ubuntu desktop. The model drives the screen live over SBIO, as it does on Windows.
- macOS desktop — the engine now starts on macOS. It used to fail every time with "Launch Command Not Found".
- Portable project paths — paths in StoryboardConfiguration.json are saved with forward slashes and read back with the host's separator, so a project authored on Windows opens on Linux and macOS. Before this, generation on those hosts found no events, wrote model classes into a literal ..\Generated folder, or skipped the app publish entirely. Engine folders are still used exactly as the project configures them.
- Startup Arguments — the launch view has a new Startup Arguments box for engine options such as rotate. These used to need a hand edit of the JSON.
- Model Generator Enabled — Generate now honours this setting. Model classes used to be generated even when it was unticked.
- Engine output in the log — sbengine's standard output now appears in the log during local simulation. Before, only its errors appeared.
- Channel name checks — if a channel name doesn't match the Storyboard app, a warning is logged after 5 seconds and repeated every 30 seconds. The app used to hang silently. Empty names are rejected, and names longer than SBIO's 25-character limit are warned about.
- Blank project warning — Generate warns when no Storyboard App Folder is set. It used to deploy with no Storyboard app and no message.
Bug Fixes
- Same-length strings — setting a string property to a new value of the same length (for example "test" to "fail") now updates the screen (C#).
- Shared events — when two .gde projects declare the same event, it is generated once. It used to be generated twice, which caused compile errors in the generated code. Conflicting declarations now fail generation and name both declarations.
- C++ SendEvent — the channel is now checked against the output channel list, not the input list. Before, a send could read past the end of the list or be rejected for no reason.
- C# SendEvent with no channel — a message with an unset or invalid channel is now logged and dropped. It used to throw an exception.
- Installer prerequisite check — the check now runs and validates the engine folder. It used to report "StoryboardConfiguration Not Found" on every package and skip the check.
- Toolkit parameter lookup — a missing Storyboard project folder no longer breaks parameter lookup for the whole Toolkit.
- Designer export — the Toolkit now finds the right Storyboard Designer launcher on each platform and logs export errors. On Linux it used to pick an .ini file.
