Setting up the Codesys Development Environment

Software

Install OpenPV^® for Windows 2.10 or Newer

Install Codesys Version 3.5.19.xx - perform a full install including the Gateway

Download directly from the Codesys Store.

Gateway.cfg File  - No modifications to the gateway.cfg file are needed to establish a communication link with the OpenView display.

Device Descriptor - This is bundled with the OpenPV^® Codesys Demo project which is the starting point for any new project.

Hardware

Connect a USB cable from the display to the computer.

• A USB-C connector is required on the display side.
• Either type - A or type C can be used on the computer side.
• Verify the cable is not strictly a charging cable but also contains data lines.
• Verify the USB port on the computer side is for general purpose USB connections, C-type ports dedicated for docking station connections generally do not work.
• No additional drivers or setup is required.

Developing on OpenView Displays and MCx Controllers Simultaneously

Two different versions of Codesys are needed between the OpenView line of displays and the MCx hydraulic controller. This may represent a challenge setting up the Gateway.cfg file to be able to communicate with both pieces of hardware at the same time.
